Savannah’s Historic District is filled with dignified, lovingly-restored mansions which can be toured for a price. The Noble Hardee House overlooking Monterey Square is not one of them. Ever bit as stately as its counterparts, construction on this Italianate gem got underway in 1860 by cotton merchant Noble Hardee. He died before it was completed nearly a decade later. With its flaking stucco and rusting ironwork, the decaying grand dame of Monterey Square is believed to be the only unrestored mansion in the city. To see inside, all you need is a love for old things or a fondness for organized chaos. Each of the mansion’s four stories is now used to house Alex Raskin Antiques. Visitors enter through the cellar on Bull Street and must be willing to navigate a labyrinth of unique furnitur...

Item 30-1803 These majestic bronze-mounted Sèvres porcelain urns are monumental in both size and quality, and feature the renowned manufactory’s signature deep cobalt blue glaze. Sèvres urns were made in various sizes and qualities over the years, with the finest examples dating from between 1850 and 1880. Yet even among the best examples, these urns stand apart. First, the great majority of the urns were fitted with minimum “stock” bronze. Very few boasted the handcrafted, specially-made mercury gilded bronze mounts such as those featured here. Additionally, most urns created were approximately one quarter to half the size of these monumental beauties. It is assumed by most experts that the smaller examples were sold in retail establishments, while very rare large pieces were made only f...

Just a Collection of Antiques and Curios From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia... Live album by Strawbs Recorded 11 July 1970 Producer Tony Visconti "Just a Collection of Antiques and Curios" is a live album by English band Strawbs recorded at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on 11 July 1970. The album reached number 27 in the UK Album Charts. The band line-up had changed dramatically from that of the previous album, Dragonfly. Only founder-members Dave Cousins and Tony Hooper remained, double bass player Ron Chesterman and cellist Claire Deniz being replaced by rhythm section John Ford and Richard Hudson.
